Changes to my study programme

Even though I am in my second year of my degree, I have gone over the journalism curriculum many times. So there are a few things I would like to change about this one.

About the subjects I have, I think I would eliminate some that I don't think are totally necessary. In the career we have "Electives of Basic Training" (EFB) that help to complement the career in specific areas. To get the degree credits we are asked to total 16 credits in these subjects, which would mean taking 6 to 8 of these. Although I think they are courses in which you learn very interesting things, I do not see them as useful to develop professionally and often worsen the academic load. So I would cut the credits in half, just 8.

I haven't been to the university much, so I don't know it well enough to change its structure, but from what I've been told, the classrooms are very limited, so I'd like to see them make more classrooms for when they are needed. I would also add more equipment for work, be it more microphones, cameras, and other sound equipment, so that it would be enough for all the students. In addition, I would also like to see more licenses to work with programs like Phothoshop, as we currently have to share them.

As for the teaching methods, I think they are quite good, although I would perhaps add more opportunities to be able to apply what we have learned.

Time travel to the future

It took me a while to think about what time in the future I would like to travel to, because I had never stopped to think about it, I always imagined that if I could travel in time I would go to the past.

After thinking about it for a long time, Halley's comet came to my mind, a comet that approaches the Earth approximately every 75 years, which makes it possible for a person to see it only twice in his lifetime. It was last here in 1986, and is scheduled to return in 2061.

So I would like to travel to 2061 to be able to see this comet, as it is one of the brightest comets, making it more visible than the others. While I am not a big fan of astronomy, it is something that really catches my attention, so I would love to be able to see Halley's comet. To see it in a better way, I think I would go directly to an observatory, because although it will be visible all over the world, if you see it from a hill or just from a house, you will not be able to appreciate it properly.

I would not like to stay in 2061, because I would go just to see Halley's comet. Besides, most likely my parents, grandparents and my family in general, will not be there with me, and I would not like to be alone.

My future job

Since I started studying journalism, I have not been clear about what kind of job I would like to have. At least not just one. I used to like the idea of working in radio, but now I don't think it's my thing. However, I really like print journalism, so I would like to work in a magazine or newspaper, writing about things I like, such as culture, education, health and a bit of politics.

Although I would like to travel in my future job, and although I know that working in an office, directly in a communication agency can give me the option to travel, a freelance job would be much better for this. So I would also like to travel, get to know different cultures and work for companies that need the help of a journalist, such as writing, managing social networks, among other jobs.

What I like most about journalism is the freedom and variety it has in terms of jobs. The field of work is very large, and that is why I would like to work in different places, as I said writing in newspapers and periodicals, doing freelance work, and although television and radio journalism are not totally of my interest, I do not rule them out completely.
